Tom James Scott will be performing part of a new work - ‘Mire’ - at this years Sottovoce festival which takes place 10th-12th September at Cafe Oto, St Mark’s Church in Dalston, and the state 51 space off Brick Lane.
‘Mire’ features location recordings made on Walney Island in the winter of 2008/09, combined with processed harmonium and electric guitar. For this work the guitar sits underneath the pre-recorded material providing a metallic, splintered texture, in contrast to the more lyrical songs of the previous two releases on Bo’Weavil.
The title ‘Mire’ is in reference to the word ‘miredrum’, a now distinct colloquial name for the bittern once found in the regional dialect of Cumbria.
Performance takes place at 4:45pm, Cafe Oto, Saturday 11th. Follow link to see ticket prices and further details.
